Well folks, here are the much anticipated photos of our very first foreclosure/fixer-upper. Let’s be honest, it’s probably our last foreclosure/fixer-upper too but let’s keep that glass half-full shall we?

Looks like a very good fixer upper. No fixing at all compared to our Redwood house! Have fun.
Yes, it’s not trashed which is why we thought we could handle it. Most if the fixes, besides a leak under the tub, are cosmetic and doable.
This looks like a great project and totally re-sellable! That verse on the wall is very interesting–did you feel like it smacked you between the eyebrows when you walked in? Ha!
For our fixer upper last summer, we bought the stove, washer, and dryer from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We just rented a U-Haul and moved them in ourselves. There are these awesome orange “forearm forklifts” at Home Depot that I now consider an investment for every home.
I did want a new fridge due to hoarding meat in the freezer and being nervous about losing food. We got an amazing deal at searsoutlet.com and covered the dent on the front with a small magnet. đŸ™‚
Dan’s first comment when we walked in was, “oh it’s a Christian house. That’s nice.” Ha!
Thanks for the tip on the appliances! I’ll check out the Sears outlet. I didn’t even know they had one.
When do you get to move in? Will you have time to paint or get a jump start on some projects before moving?
We don’t have a close date yet….we’re working in that. The inspection is tomorrow. We won’t be moving for about 2 months after we close. We want to try to fix it up ourselves, which will take time, and we have to give our apartment 60 day notice. Well move as soon as it’s liveable, but probably not for 4-6 weeks.
That’s kind of ideal, I would think! Time to get a few things put together without having to move or cover all your furniture. Sweet!
Other than paint and flooring, I see this as no big deal. Appliances you will take with you, so that is a purchase you would have had to make anyway. The kitchen looks good (except the dishwasher). I think you will have to load the dishwasher while standing on the stove (jk, but it is tight). I think this is a great deal! You will make money at the end, for sure!
Yes, the kitchen layout is TIGHT. I’m thinking it might be worth losing some square footage in the dining room to put in one more base cabinet next to the sink to allow the dishwasher to be open while standing at the sink. I’m not sure if that would work or not…
