Here is our “Fixer Upper” and the progress we’ve made….you’ve come a long way, baby!
Front of House
We haven’t done much to the exterior yet, but that’s all going to change this summer! Look for updates soon!
Back of House
We have grass now!
It is hard to see in the next two photos, but we’ve taken 23 dead trees out of the backyard, added 60 yards of topsoil, and a retaining wall (in addition to the grass!). There is a yard to play in now!
Living Room
The living room has had the ceiling, walls, and trim painted. Still to come: painting the windows, adding window treatments, recovering the existing pillows, a fireplace facelift, and adding artwork to the walls.
Entryway
So far, the inside of the front door has been painted to match the outside, a small bookshelf is in place to hold shoes, and a clock added above the shoe rack.
This space also serves as my home office and winter workshop area. A space this large and undefined is both a blessing and a curse. Project for this area are building a desk and re-upholstering the desk chair.
Dining Room
So far we’ve added a skim coat to the walls; painted the walls, ceiling, trim, and window; replaced the sliding door; and plopped down our furniture. Now just to take some pictures…
Kitchen
This was the first room to get a big renovation. We put in new appliances, flooring, countertops, and cabinet hardware, and I put in a huge labor of love with a big pregnant belly: painted the cabinets. What a job! Here’s the result of all that work!
Laundry Room/Half Bath
This room has had massive transformation! We’ve replaced the water-logged ceiling; painted the ceiling, walls, trim, window, and cabinets; replaced the vinyl flooring; added a curtain; hung art, mirror, and ironing board; and added a new washer and dryer. I love this little room now! It’s so light and refreshing. It was a bit of a dungeon before.
Hallway
Ok, peal and stick tiles: who does that? I’ve read good tutorials online, but due to my experience in this house, I’m not a fan. In this are we’ve removed the peal and stick tile; laid new carpet; painted trim, walls, and ceiling; hung a gallery wall; and replaced the light fixture.
Nursery
My baby’s room! It was the stinkiest/most blinding room in the house: fire engine red walls and a strong smell of urine. Yum! So far we’ve replaced the carpet, painted the walls, ceiling, trim, and windows; painted the closet; and hung art.
Then we turned the nursery into a playroom!
Master Bedroom
No work on this room yet. Hopefully soon!
Guest Bedroom
This room was a hot mess. This was the first room we painted with the sprayer…BIG learning curve. It looks lovely now!
Full Bathroom
The full bathroom got a nice fresh face-lift, no structural changes, just made everything a bit more updated.
Family Room
Paint, new carpet, and plopping our furniture down. That’s all we’ve done so far!
Basement Bathroom
This room was a mess of an unfinished project when we bought the house. We’ve finished the drywall, trim, added fixtures (toilet, sink, mirror, vanity, lights, exhaust fan), and replaced the window. Looking good now!
Basement Guest Room
Another room with new paint and carpet and that’s it!
School Room
This room has seen many changes! It has been a junk room, bedroom, playroom, office, and now, a school room! Other posts: school room table.
